Time for another installment of “let’s document my projects somewhere other than social media!” After finishing my Hawaiian applique pillow, I got caught up on blocks for my Quilts Unscripted bee friends, and added one for my friend Audrey’s “Building a Village” group quilt. The blue/teal/orange blocks pictured below are for my bee-mate Patty. She requested blocks using shapes inspired by The Jetsons — a cartoon I hadn’t thought about in years! I always thought the flying cars were cool, so each of my blocks was inspired by shapes I saw in flying car shots from the show.

After that, I felt a bit stuck but then came across WIPGO (like bingo), hosted by Sarah Hearts. Y’all know I’m a joiner who loves a challenge, and this seemed like a fun way to make some progress on a host of lingering projects and ideas. I pretty quickly filled out my WIPGO board and included both big projects — like my 100 stars quilt and a bee quilt — and smaller projects, like finally using an ice dye kit I bought a few years ago.

Each week they draw a number, and that’s what you work on for that week! Five weeks in, I’m happy to report that I’ve kept up with all of my squares, even with a week of vacation thrown into the mix. So far I’ve:
- Made progress on my Double Decker Checker quilt pattern.
- Continued work on my Harvest Grid cross stitch piece.
- Took inventory of bee blocks for my snake trail quilt, and made a few more.
- Pulled my 100 stars quilt off the shelf — where it’s been for FIVE YEARS — and started plugging away at it.
- Used the ice dye kit!

Devoting just a couple hours over the course of one week to one lingering project has felt really good, and has really served as the jump start I wanted. I feel like I’m gathering momentum to keep working on these projects (and more) as we roll into back-to-school season and the promise of fall…and I’m here for it!
