Say hello to my newest quilt pattern, Diamond Stripe! This quilt looks complicated but is actually quite easy to construct and is perfect for any precuts you’ve got hanging out in your sewing room, from jelly roll strips all the way up to fat quarters or even half yards.
If this one looks familiar, you’ve been here for a while — because I first designed and made this quilt a whopping 12 years ago. It’s been hibernating deep in my archives for years, but when I heard that Ruby Star Society was coming out with a line of solids (!!) I knew it was finally time to revisit Diamond Stripe. The solids collection features 40 colors that match or coordinate with all of the other Ruby Star fabric lines, but also look great on their own as you see above. I used 24 colors for my version of the throw size Diamond Stripe quilt and I love how bright and happy the resulting quilt is.

I always love a pattern with flexible fabric requirements, and Diamond Stripe is exactly that. This pattern works with everything from 2.5″ strips to 1/2 yard cuts, and you can even use some of each if you’ve got a mix of all of those sizes.

- Fabrics and binding are Ruby Star Society Solids.
- Backing is a lime green ombre by Moda.
- Batting is Quilters Dream wool.
- Pieced with Aurifil 50 wt thread in dove.
- Quilted on my APQS Millie with Glide thread in light purple.
- Pantograph is Slime by me!
